After 6 years of not holding public office, Darrell Ourso, a lifelong Republican, was elected in March 2015 to serve an un-expired term in the Louisiana Legislature representing House District 66.  Previously, he represented the residents of District 9 on the East Baton Rouge Parish Metropolitan Council. First elected in a Special Election in the Fall of 2009 and then re-elected without opposition in the Fall of 2000.  He was also re-elected in the Fall of 2004, serving until December 2008.  He did not seek re-election for a third term.

During those 9 years of service to the residents of East Baton Rouge Parish, the community faced major flooding from Tropical Storm Allison and a few weeks later, the cowardly attacks of September 11, 2001.  In 2005, Hurricanes Katrina and Rita wrecked havoc upon many of our family and friends in South Louisiana.  Darrell Ourso was a part of the planning, coordination and execution of disaster preparations, emergency assistance and ensuring the City-Parish functioned and maintained all services in an efficient and timely manner to the residents of East Baton Rouge Parish.

East Baton Rouge Parish also experienced economic success and continued sound financial management of your tax dollars during Darrell's tenure. Listed below are some of Darrell's notable achievements that he individually, or as an effective coalition builder, was successful in bringing to passage for the benefit of East Baton Rouge Parish!
